MRC -- ZapSibNeftekhim (Tobolsk, Tyumen Region, part of SIBUR), Russia's largest polymer plant, is starting the first phase of comprehensive scheduled preventive maintenance, which will last from April to June 2022, Rupec said, citing enterprise statement.
During this period, work will be carried out in turn at the production of pyrolysis, polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP) "Sferipol", the plant of monomers and heat and steam generation. The rest of the factories will continue to operate as usual.
According to the report, the repair work will not affect the supply of ZapSibNeftekhim's products to Russian processors. So, stocks were created in advance to ensure supplies.
Scheduled repairs this year will not only improve the reliability and efficiency of process equipment, which will also reduce the burden on the environment, but also switch to a four-year overhaul cycle for basic production. Now it is two years old.
During the repair period, it is also planned to connect and start up equipment as part of the previously announced program to expand the propane dehydrogenation (PDH) capacity. In particular, within three weeks in April, specialists will check the condition of systems, technical certification, cleaning and repair of installations and technological units.
Earlier it was noted that ZapSibNeftekhim plans to start commissioning in the second quarter of this year as part of a project to build an additional chromium catalyst activator used in the production of PE. The capacity of the chromium catalyst activator will be 138 tons per year. The commissioning of the activator under construction will make it possible to produce grades using a chromium catalyst based on slurry technology, which will expand the range of ZapSibNeftekhim products. The enterprise will be able to additionally produce more than 232,000 tons per year of premium grades of PE that are in demand on the market.
It was also reported that ZapSibNeftekhim
mastered the production of 56 grades of polymers in 2021. "The products of this plant make it possible to almost completely abandon the import of popular polymers," - said the governor of the Tyumen region Alexander Moor at an expanded meeting of the regional government on December 24 last year.
As MRC reported, ZapSibNeftekhim produced the seven millionth ton of polyolefins, as stated in a statement by the company's press service earlier in December last year.
According to MRC's
ScanPlast, in January PE shipment to the Russian market amounted to 225,790 tonnes against 241,140 tonnes a year earlier. The supply of LDPE and LLDPE decreased. In general, for 2021, the estimated consumption of polyethylene amounted to 2,487,450 tonnes.
SIBUR is the largest vertically integrated gas processing and petrochemical company in Russia, uniting a number of production sites in various regions of the Russian Federation. The company sells its products to consumers in the fuel and energy complex, automotive, construction, FMCG, chemical and other industries in more than 80 countries around the world.
