Westlake Corp. (Houston) has announced that its epoxy plant in Deer Park, Texas has achieved International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS, as per Chemweek.
The certification covers liquid epoxy resins (LER), solid epoxy resins (SER) and liquid epoxy blends for use in end markets such as industrial coatings, construction, wind energy, composites, automotive and electronics.
The company said that starting today, existing and new customers will have access to the ISCC+ renewable feedstock.
“This is an important milestone for Westlake Epoxy in North America and a key step in bringing more renewable raw materials into our global supply chain,” said Brian Powers, Westlake senior vice president of performance and essential materials. “Each new ISCC PLUS certification is another step in Westlake Epoxy’s strategy to integrate renewable carbon materials into our raw material supply chain while working to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.”
Deer Park joins Westlake Epoxy’s Duisburg, Germany site, which is also ISCC+ certified.
