MOSCOW (MRC) -- Seasonal increase of demand in conditions of tight supply of black pipe-grade HDPE leads to price increase. To mid-week prices for Russian black PE100 went up to the level RUB 58.500 - 61.500/mt - according to MRC Price reports.
Since the summer pipe-grade polyethylene has started growing dynamicly. Domestic volumes became insufficient, and some big Russian pipe producers started increasing purchases from foreign suppliers. Total June pipe-grade HDPE imports have closed to 6 kt. Middle and small converters still prefered the cheaper Russian material.
Unplanned suspension of HDPE facilities at Stavrolen due to technical problems in early July and Kazanorgsyntez export contracts have led to serious reduction of black pipe-grade HDPE supply into the domestic market in H2 July. Tight pipe-grade PE supply in conditions of strong demand has reflected on polyethylene price. The prices for Russian black PE100 to mid-week reached the level RUB 58.500 - 61.500/mt, including VAT, FCA. European and Asian black PE100 for August and September is offered at average RUB 62.000 - 65.000/mt, including VAT, FCA.
